Various Updates and Information – Nov 2018

Dear parents and carers

I hope you are all enjoying the half term break.
Below are various updates and reminders for the next half term.

Congratulations to Nuala Peberdy on the launch of the Xmas Barbour advert. If you missed the launch head over to the Barbour Facebook page to view or click the link here
Nuala also had a very exciting and successful week performing in ‘Nativity the Musical’ during it’s opening week in Coventry and we look forward to seeing her in Nottingham as part of the tour later this month.

Ballet / Modern & Tap Exam Coaching
A reminder of the exam coaching sessions this Sunday and next for those taking ballet exams. Dress rehearsal is this Sunday so please make sure you have all your exam uniform to wear.

For those involved with Modern and Tap exams, coaching starts Wednesday 7th November.

‘Unite the Scene’
The ‘Unite the scene’ performance in Nottingham is only a week away – Sunday 11th November. Please support our students by booking tickets from the link below it would be great to see lots of Tozer support for the students…

Congratulations to the three students who were selected to perform as part of the Collaboration Project on both nights of the event, and work with the acclaimed choreographer Kenrick Sandy MBE.

Inter B / Senior Vocal class
Please be aware that from after half term, this class will extend from 45mins to one hour on Tuesday evenings. As a Senior class, we feel this is necessary to cover more of the content planned and recap complex harmony work. A small increase of fees of £5 pp will be implemented to cover staffing costs etc.

Music Theatre Exams – note revised dress rehearsal dates
The exams are scheduled for Monday December 17th with dress rehearsals on the 9th December from 10am and after school on the10th December from 3.30pm. Apologies to everyone involved as the exam information letter incorrectly stated the dress rehearsals would be on the 8th and 9th Dec. Please note new dates for the rehearsals are 9th/10th December. I will do my best to accommodate requested slots, but as there have been a lot,  I cannot guarantee to suit all. Thank you to those who returned the consent forms with notifications on them.
All costumes must be available and worn for the dress rehearsals (these are timed exams and the costume changes need to be slick and are integral to the overall success of the exam). You will need to source the costumes yourselves – we are here to help if needed. All students should have completed their programme notes this half term and the information resourced for those programme notes can help with costumes/props. We do have limited supplies of costumes and accessories and the Nottingham Community Wardrobe are excellent with help. You need to book an appointment to hire their costumes. Tel: 0115 915 0114

Show 2019
I am sure you are all aware that the Tozer show is on 6th & 7th April 2019. The staff and myself have been in meetings for some time and preparations for the show are well under way. This will be an exciting opportunity & fun for all the students, but lots of hard work and commitment is needed from everyone. If you are unable to commit to doing the show for whatever reason it is only courtesy to give as much notice as possible in writing to myself. Groups and numbers have already been planned which can be altered at this stage if enough notice given. Thank you for your co-operation ahead of what will be a frantic Spring term.

A letter will go out this half term to everyone highlighting information about the show and how things will operate after Christmas. It is a mammoth task to organise so please bare with us. As in previous years costumes are all paid for by parents which can then be kept after the show. We will asking for a costume deposit from each student this half term so we can begin to order items and source props etc. This helps with spreading the cost too. More details on this will be given out in the next few weeks.

All students involved in the show will need to wear a Tozer hoodie. Please order these by filling in your name and age / size on the forms posted on the notice boards. There is a small extra charge If your child wishes to have their name printed on the back – please advise of this when ordering.

Term resumes on Monday 5th November
Last day of this term is Saturday 8th December except for Music Theatre students and some senior students who may want to be considered for the opening number of the show.
