This week’s theme and half term workshops

As we approach half term at the end of this week, I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for the commitment shown to making our online lessons such a success so far. It has been challenging for us all and pulling our community together has shown spirit and determination.

Half term breaks
We will be taking a break from regular classes after lessons on Friday and resuming on Monday 22nd February. (2 Saturdays off). The timetable will remain the same after half term and hopefully we look forward to some progress as to when we can return to face-to-face lessons.

Theme this week
We are continuing with our ’who inspires you?’ theme this week again.
We had some delightful answers and work from our students, and we would like more this week too!
Popular answers who inspired our students were:
– Darcy Bussell-Ballerina
– Emma Watson-Actress
– The Greatest Showman Musical
– AJ Prtichard – Professional Dancer on Strictly
– Songs of Michael Jackson
– Marie Curie-Scientist

Be ready with your answers this week – Pictures, stories or talk about who inspires you during your lesson.

IMPORTANT
We have exciting news for those wanting to keep up their dance and performance during half term as we are holding some workshops for anyone to join in with and expand your dance/creative knowledge…

Tozer Dance Studios – Half Term Workshops
During the February half term, we will be hosting a few dance workshops for the students to participate in and invite any of your ‘non-Tozer’ friends who would like to join us online.

  • Swan Lake Ballet workshops – Monday 15th and Friday 19th February

We will be studying the iconic ballet Swan Lake with students learning about the story, characters, music score, choreography and different interpretations performed on stage. We will study some of the famous dances performed in the ballet and students will get the chance to develop their own choreography.
The workshops are open to all students aged 5 and upwards. Students will be grouped according to age into 3 sessions with the Juniors starting at 10-11.30 am, Inters 12-1.20pm and Seniors at 2-3.30pm. We aim to film the students work and performances and collate them together forming a lockdown Swan Lake Showcase!

Each student will receive a workbook which we use during the sessions. The first half will be used during the Monday workshop and the second half during the Friday one. There are also several additional resources at the back of the pack for those half term rainy days!

Numbers are limited to ensure that each student feels comfortable and able to participate in group discissions and is given the opportunity to develop their own choreography. The programme will be extended through the age groups allowing the older students to delve deeper into the repertoire.

  • Musical Theatre / Jazz workshops – Wednesday 17th February

We will be studying some of the classic songs and dance routines from Musicals such as Hair Spray, Greatest Showman and Mean Girls. As with the ballet workshops children will be grouped according to age with the Junior session taking place at 10-11.30 am, Inters 12-1.20pm and Seniors 2-3.30pm.

Each 1.5-hour session costs only £10.

Please complete the booking form below by FRIDAY 12th FEBRUARY & transfer total amount of fees to the Tozer Bank Account to secure a place.
